882 years ago the Norse Gods fought their final battle and ended their reign on Earth.  They were betrayed by their brothers, their allies and the stood alone against evil and despair.  Odin, their leader knew the forces arrayed against him wanted the powers that he and his brood possessed, but he could not let them fall into evil hands.  He ripped the powers from the Gods and hurtled them away through time and space knowing that his son Balder would inherit them.  The Aesir Gods, the entire Norse Pantheon, died as they always dreamed, in battle with death at their backs.   Balder, the son of Odin survived the genocide of his people but served a torturous sentence in Hel.  When he finally escaped the Aesir Energies were drawn to him.  Before his destiny could be his own,  a small problem occurred…

Balder was not worthy of Valhalla and when he let go his flesh he was taken by Hel.  Deep in the roots of the world tree he descended to the realm of Helheim.  Such is not a dire fate for most, but for Odin’s brood to fall to the daughter of Loki was worse than death itself.

Hel was spawned from Loki and a the giantess Angrboda whose name means foreboding.  Her love for her father was absolute and when the War of the Gods started with Balder’s death she vowed to never release Odin’s son.  Balder would not only remain in Hel until Ragnarok, but he would be tortured until his escape.

As the millennia have passed, and the others gain control of the nine worlds, her power has slipped.  She no longer is in control of all of Helheim and its souls.  Facing an inevitable demise she will not go without notice.  Hel will be remembered.
